This is my example of the Japanese Army Type 2 Exhaust Gas Analyser produced by Yokogawa Denki Seisakusho. The primary function of this gas analyser was for obtaining the most efficient fuel consumption. The top line of the gauge displayed the fuel-to-air-ratio, which could be adjusted by the mixture control. The bottom line showed the manifold pressure, which was controlled by the throttle. This would have to be the cleanest gauge in my Japanese instrument collection, almost looking like NOS (New Old Stock) however, it isn’t. I know this as there was a “Captured Enemy Aircraft” tag attached to it when I bought it. It would have been stored during or after the war at Captured Enemy Equipment Unit, Hangar No. 151 , NAS, Anacostia, which was what was written on the tag. This gauge was used in various IJAAF aircraft including the Ki-48 Shiki-Souhatu-Keibaku 九九式雙發輕爆擊機 (Sokei) “Lily” and the Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu 屠龍 (Dragon Slayer) “Nick”.
