This is my example of the Japanese Navy Model 1 Directional Gyro produced by Tokyo Koku Keiki. This gyro type was used in various IJN aircraft including the famous Mitsubishi G4M Hamaki 葉巻 (Cigar/Leaf Roll) “Betty” and various seaplanes including the Aichi M6A Seiran 晴嵐 (Clear Sky Storm). This is quite a nice example of the Model 1, and one that you don’t see around all that often in comparison to the IJAAF version. This example will eventually be displayed in my original G4M1 Betty instrument panel that I tend to try fit out with as many original items as possible.
