Japanese Navy Type 92 Magnetic Compass

Japanese Navy Type 92 Magnetic Compass

This is my example of the Japanese Navy Type 92 Magnetic Compass (Model 2) produced by Yokogawa Kenki Seisakusho. This compass type was most commonly used in the famous Mitsubishi A6M Reisen 零戦 (Type 0 fighter) “Zero” fighter. This is a very clean example of the Type 92 which I picked up with a couple of other gauges. The outer heading ring manually rotates allowing a desired heading course to be set for a constant reference. The original deviation card is still present and in excellent condition. These are one of the more expensive Japanese aircraft instruments getting around on the market today due to the A6M instrument panels being the most common of the WWII Japanese aircraft panels desired to own or replicate for display. Although the Type 92 is highly sourced for fitting out A6M panel projects, there still seems to be quite a few around for purchase.
