Well, the weekend just gone the family and I traveled a couple hours south to attend the Airlie Beach Air Show for the second time. The last time being 2016, this show was quite close to the last show we attended in the way of aircraft and demonstrations. Some of the aircraft this year consisted of the CA-18 Mustang, CAC Wirraway, TBM Avenger, T-28 Trojan plus various aerobatic aircraft and helicopters. One helicopter that was great to see and hear was the UH-1, done up in Vietnam colours and all. Nobody could mistake the sound those blades make when cutting through the air. All in all it was a satisfying day, considering the strip must have a pass from CASA to allow those things to be taking off past you at no further than 30ft….what an experience. Good job to Paul Bennett and the whole team who puts the show together, without people putting the funds and time on the table we would not have this stuff in North Queensland, so I thank you for all your hard work. Until the next one…blue skies!
